Linked to the engine is a high torque-enabled eight-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters for a manual mode. Additionally, the TRX comes standard with an advanced 4x4 system.

The daunting size of the TRX is brought on by its 11.8-inch ground clearance, eight inches added to the width, and an additional six inches added to the track, which gives it a bulldog-like stance. The TRX rolls on 18-inch beadlock-capable alloy wheels with 35-inch all-terrain tires. While the TRX provides significant on-road performance, it is also at home while tackling rugged terrain, thanks to its superior off-roading equipment. A majority of the TRX's capability comes from the Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shock absorbers. Ram worked closely with Bilstein to develop shocks to best rein in the power of the TRX and handle the terrain it's intended for. In addition to the 11.8 inches of ground clearance, the shocks allow for 13 inches of front suspension travel and 13 inches of rear suspension travel, creating great wheel articulation. This provides a smoother ride, no matter the terrain. The shocks also use a secondary piston that engages as they reach full compression to prevent the TRX from bottoming out. The TRX also offers selectable drive modes; Auto, Custom, Rock, Snow, and Sand/Mud modes. Selecting any of these modes will automatically make adjustments to the torque split, throttle control, transmission shift points, steering feel, and suspension stiffness to best handle the selected terrain. The last off-roading feature is Selec-Speed, which is essentially off-roading cruise control, allowing you to set a low speed and let the vehicle control the speed so you can focus on maneuvering. Keeping a grip on the trails are 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires.
