As we mentioned above, there are two engines available for the 2023 Jeep Cherokee. The standard engine for the 2023 Cherokee Altitude LUX is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the 2.4L engine puts out 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Trailhawk trim comes with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine, also paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, that delivers a hefty 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment for the Altitude LUX trim is Active Drive 4x4. Active Drive is designed to constantly monitor road conditions and adapt by automatically shifting into four-wheel drive when it is necessary. Meanwhile, the Trailhawk trim comes exclusively with Active Drive Lock 4x4, which uses a two-speed transfer case with 4-Low mode for impressive off-road performance. Additionally, it also locks the front and rear axles for additional power at low speeds.

Two Cherokee trim levels are available for the 2023 model year. The lineup begins with the Altitude LUX. This trim offers exterior features like LED headlights, LED taillights, LED front fog lights, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn signals, remote-activated perimeter lights, roof rails, remote engine start, and a power liftgate. Inside the Altitude LUX, you'll find dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, the largest-in-class standard 8.4-inch touchscreen, six speakers, navigation with voice activation, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Meanwhile, the Trailhawk trim earns Jeeps Trail Rated badge with a wide range of rugged off-roading equipment. These include all-terrain tires, red front, and rear tow hooks, high-strength steel skid plates, Active Drive Lock 4x4, off-road-tuned suspension with a one-inch lift, and the standard two-liter turbocharged engine. 

The Jeep Cherokee sure is comfortable and capable, but it is equally as safe. In addition to the standard high-strength steel frame and all-around airbag protection, the Cherokee also features a full suite of standard driver assistance technologies. First is blindspot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, which uses sensors to detect vehicles in the blind spots as well as behind you while reversing and will notify you using visual and audio alerts. The lane departure warning system will use audio and visual notifications to alert you if you begin to stray from your lane of travel. Meanwhile, the lane-keep assist will gently steer you back to the center of the lane. The forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking systems work together to detect an impending frontal collision using forward-facing radar sensors and automatically apply the brakes if the driver does not immediately react. The adaptive cruise control feature is also standard, allowing the driver to set a distance between the Cherokee and the vehicle in front of it and will automatically adjust the speed to maintain that distance without any driver intervention.
