To be considered for the FCA Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Program, a vehicle must have a clean title, no frame damage, no aftermarket parts that affect the safety, operation, or emissions, and can be no older than five years old and with less than 75,000 miles on it. If the vehicle meets all of these requirements, it will move on to the 125-point inspection performed by a factory-trained technician. This inspection begins with a visual inspection, checking to ensure all the mechanical components are in like-new working condition. Just one detail that they check is the brake pads to ensure they have no less than 50% life left on them. After the vehicle is deemed mechanically sound, the technician will perform a road test. Before a test drive, the technician will ensure all the instruments and gauges work correctly. At this point, all preventative maintenance services are brought up to date. The final step is making sure the vehicle is cosmetically perfect by giving it a full detail inside and out and ensuring all the badges and emblems are secure in the correct place. 

When a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram vehicle comes out of the factory, it comes with a powertrain warranty that covers the repair or replacement cost of the transmission, engine, and/or driveline. When a car is certified, it is still covered by this warranty. Therefore, say you have a CPO Jeep Grand Cherokee that’s four years old and has 65,000 miles. That’s why in order to be considered for the CPO program, vehicles must be less than five years old and have less than 75,000 miles on the odometer, giving drivers a minimum of two years or 25,000 miles of warranty coverage. For additional coverage, CPO customers can purchase extended warranty packages like Maximum Care, Added Care Plus, and Powertrain Care, all of which provide similar benefits after the car ages out of the new car warranty.
