While driving on smooth, dry roads, Active Drive will run in front-wheel drive, maximizing fuel economy. When you encounter inclement road conditions, Active Drive will engage the rear wheels, driving all four wheels to help maintain traction. Active Drive II operates similarly but employs a two-speed transfer case, allowing drivers to select between 4-high and 4-low drive modes. Lastly, the Trailhawk trim comes exclusively with Active Drive Lock, which adds a locking rear differential to keep the rear wheels moving at the same speed, enhancing traction while off-roading.
