Pre-Trip Checklist:
Schedule a Tune Up: Before you even start planning your new adventure, you need to make sure your vehicle is ready! At our service department, our mechanics will make sure every part of your vehicle is in tip top shape before you embark. First, they will check on and top off all your fluids. These include the oil, coolant, windshield wiper, and brake fluids. If needed, they will also check your transmission and power-steering fluids. The mechanics will also check your hoses, belts, air filter, radiator, and battery to make sure they are all in good working order. Your brakes and tires are also incredibly important during the road trip and our team will make sure you have good tread and inflation levels and your entire brake system is ready for a long trip.
Pack Like a Pro: It may seem silly, but the way you pack your vehicle can have a big impact on your road trip. There are a few things to keep in mind to make sure it all goes smoothly. Make sure you don’t overload your vehicle and go over the weight limit. Make sure you pack your heaviest items like luggage in the bottom of the SUV to keep the center of gravity lower.
Create an Emergency Kit: Traveling far from home and breaking down can be very anxiety inducing. You have done everything you can to avoid this by making sure your vehicle is in tip-top shape, but if the worst does happen, we want to make sure you are prepared. Things to include in your emergency kit are a portable phone charger, basic tools like screwdrivers, a hazard triangle, tire tools, a flashlight with extra batteries, jumper cables or a jump starter, and a fire extinguisher.
