All-New Grand Cherokee L Revealed

One of the best things about the all-new 2021 Grand Cherokee L is it delivers the 4x4 capability that Jeep drivers are used to while still taking things up a notch. Three 4x4 systems are available, known as the Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. They all come with a limited-slip differential and an active transfer case, which improves traction by putting the torque to work with the wheel with the most grip. Also exclusive is the Quadra-Lift air suspension system, which has electronic adaptive damping that delivers class-leading ground clearance and water fording. This legendary system adjusts shock tuning to the different road conditions for better comfort, control, and stability. Finally, the Grand Cherokee L has a class-exclusive Selec-Terrain system that allows drivers to choose from different on and off-road performance options, including Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand. 

The 2021 Grand Cherokee L uses lightweight, high-strength aluminum closures to help reduce the weight and improve the fuel economy. The brilliant minds with the Jeep engineering team reduced the weight by mounting the axle right to the engine and adding things like a solid-mounted aluminum front cradle, aluminum engine mounts and steering gear, a magnesium cross-car beam, and an all-new electronic master brake booster system. The Grand Cherokee has always had outstanding on-road capability and quietness, and that has been improved with the Grand Cherokee L as it has a newly located front virtual ball joint, which improves lateral control and a multi-link rear suspension that improves ride comfort and handling. For the first time, even in an SUV, the front axel has been bolted directly to the engine, which improves the noise, vibration, and harshness. 

The Grand Cherokee L comes with two powerful and fuel-efficient engines designed to deliver amazing performance no matter the circumstances. Standard is an all-aluminum 3.6-liter engine that rates at 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes with engine stop-start technology, which helps with the fuel economy. If you're looking to tow a ton of material, the Grand Cherokee L is perfect for this as it can haul up to 6,200 pounds. Drivers who want a little more power can opt for the 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque and can haul up to 7,200 pounds. New for the Grand Cherokee L 4x4 is the front axle disconnect, which senses when certain road conditions require all-wheel-drive and can turn the system on and off when needed.
