The Latest in Parking Technology

This topic and question came with great timing as I was just discussing with a family member the features of a self-parking vehicle. Would you purchase one?

If it parallel parks nicely, absolutely! How is a vehicle designed to self-park? With a Park Assist Pilot System. It basically helps steer the car into available parking spaces. Wow, right? This is a sign of the times with advancing technology at its best!

There are more and more vehicles on the market that have some sort of parking technology. The Chrysler Pacifica has an available option called Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist System. If your vehicle is equipped with this, it controls the steering while you follow on-screen directions for the gear position, brake and accelerator.

The Pacifica also has other technologies that aid in safe maneuvering.  The 360° Surround View Camera provides a bird‘s-eye view of your minivan by using four cameras positioned around the vehicle to create a fully stitched image. And a technology called ParkSense Rear Park Assist with Stop detects objects in your path and alert you with visual and audible cues to help stop you from backing into something. The brakes can engage automatically during a reverse parking maneuver if a possible collision is detected.
