Discover the Power of the All-New Truck Here!
For decades, the Ram 1500 has been a trusted source of power and capability for hard workers and adventure seekers alike! While it has evolved over the years, the Ram 1500's power has never failed to live up to drivers' expectations. Ahead of the 2025 model year, the Ram 1500 received a complete makeover outside, inside, and, most notably, under the hood. Two new powertrain options were added to the Ram 1500 lineup in 2025, creating the most powerful and capable lineup of the Ram 1500 than ever before. Here at Rouen Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we're excited about the all-new 2025 Ram 1500 and are thrilled to take the opportunity to share details about the power it provides below!
What Engine is Standard Equipment for the 2025 Ram 1500?
In 2011, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine was introduced to the Ram 1500 and has remained standard equipment ever since. Ram has relied on the Pentastar engine because of the way it perfectly balances efficiency and performance. The 2025 Ram 1500 achieves 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque for a maximum towing capacity of up to 8,100 pounds with the proper equipment. Additionally, the V6 engine allows for a 2,300-pound payload capacity. To maximize the engine's efficiency, the Pentastar engine uses a 48-volt electric generator instead of a traditional alternator for a more seamless engine stop/start function at idle. The Pentastar engine delivers power through a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission to drive either a rear-wheel or four-wheel-drive powertrain.
Get More Power and Fewer Emissions with Hurricane
As the automotive industry continues to march toward a more fuel-efficient future, Ram has joined that initiative with the discontinuation of the famed 5.7L HEMI V8, which gave the Ram 1500 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. However, in 2025, Ram is replacing the V8 engine with a more fuel-efficient yet more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine engine. The two low-inertia, high-flow turbochargers each feed three cylinders to provide faster response to throttle input. This engine, named Hurricane, comes in both a standard-output and high-output variant. While optional on the Tradesman and Big Horn, the standard-output Hurricane engine comes with the Laramie and Rebel trim levels. Despite its smaller size, the standard-output Hurricane offers 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque in the Ram 1500. Meanwhile, the high-output variant, standard for the Limited and all-new Tungsten trims, offer 540 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque making it the most powerful six-cylinder engine in its segment. While providing the Ram 1500 with better fuel economy than the outgoing V8 engine, it offers more power as well.
Does Ram offer a Plug-In Hybrid?
The all-new Ram 1500 Ramcharger is technically a separate model from the traditional Ram 1500. However, it shares all of the legendary truck's DNA while introducing Ram's first-ever plug-in hybrid powertrain. To create the Ramcharger, Ram mounted a 130-kilowatt onboard generator to the aforementioned 3.6L V6 engine. The Ramcharger also features a 250-kW electric drive module (EDM) on the front axle, accompanied by a 238-kW EDM on the rear axle. Combined, these provide the Ramcharger with impressive all-wheel drive performance. The Ramcharger achieves an impressive 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque. The process of powering the Ramcharger begins with mechanical power created by the V6 engine flowing to the onboard generator, which converts it to electrical energy before passing it on to the battery to increase or maintain its state of charge. However, drivers can opt to send power to the wheels from both the generator and the battery for maximum performance. The Ramcharger achieves three best-in-class specifications with a 690-mile total driving range, a 2,652-pound payload capacity, and a 14,000-pound towing capacity. Additionally, the Ramcharger can take drivers from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds!
