However, a class-leading 12,750-pound towing capacity is reached with the available eTorque for the V8 engine. Lastly, the mighty TRX returns with the hellish 6.2L V8 supercharged engine ripping out 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque for an enthralling 4.5-second 0-60 time. Most engines are equipped with the robust TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. However, the TRX comes with a high-torque enabled 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters and standard 4x4. Additionally, 4x4 is available for all Ram 1500 trim levels and engines.

The entry-level Tradesman trim is arguably the most well-equipped base model in the light-duty truck market.
