Check out our new 4xe Inventory!

Electric and hybrid vehicles keep popping up everywhere, and as more and more automakers turn toward these types of vehicles, drivers need to know how to charge these types of vehicles and where. While you can always charge your hybrid battery like you do your smartphone, or you could set up a Level II charger in your home, there will come a time when you have to charge your vehicle at an EV charging station, and when you do, you're going to need to know how to behave. Here at Rouen Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we want to help, so we have provided you with some rules to follow when you are at an EV station. Once you are done reading, check out our complete Jeep 4xe inventory here on our website!

Have Respect for the Space

EV charging stations are designated explicitly for charging electric vehicles. Avoid parking in a charging spot unless you are actively charging your vehicle. In addition, charging at a public charging station can take a significant amount of time, especially if your battery is low. If you've finished charging and your vehicle is fully charged, free up the charging spot for others who may need it. Avoid leaving your vehicle parked in the charging spot once it has reached its full charge. Finally, if you know, you'll need a charge, plan and find charging stations along your route or at your destination. This will help avoid unnecessary waiting time and inconvenience to others.

Follow Instructions

Charging stations may have specific rules or guidelines posted nearby. Ensure to read and follow instructions, such as any time limits, fees, or regulations specific to that charging station. In addition, when parking at a charging station, position your vehicle in a way that does not block other charging spots or obstruct access for other EV drivers. This includes being mindful of the charging cable length to ensure it reaches your vehicle without impeding the adjacent spot.

Be Patient and Communicate

If all the charging spots are occupied, you may have to wait for your turn. Be patient and courteous to other EV drivers, and respect their charging time. Avoid unplugging another person's vehicle unless it is an emergency and you have their permission. If you encounter any issues or notice someone violating the charging station etiquette, it can be helpful to communicate politely. Kindly inform the person if they are parked in a charging spot without charging or have finished charging but are still occupying the spot.
