The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is eligible for two engines. Standard under the hood is Jeep’s 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine. This delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The optional 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel engine supplies drivers with 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that is optional for the gas-powered V6. The Sport, Sport S, and Overland trims come with Command-Trac 4x4, and exclusive to the Rubicon trim is the renowned Rock-Trac 4x4.

And while their arsenal of highly capable systems is extensive, the ones used by the Wrangler and Gladiator can take you far beyond where other vehicles wouldn’t dare go. Command-Trac is standard for the Gladiator. This is a part-time 4x4 system, allowing you to shift out of and into four-wheel drive at speeds up to 55 MPH. Furthermore, the system has a two-speed transfer case, giving drivers 2-High, 4-High, and 4-Low modes. 2-High is for smooth, dry road conditions. Meanwhile, 4-High should be used in inclement weather or road conditions like snow, heavy rain, or loose gravel. Lastly, 4-Low should be used for off-roading at low speeds. Command-Trac 4x4 is built to handle anything you throw at it. Meanwhile, the Rubicon trim comes with Rock Trac 4x4. Another part-time system, the Rock-Trac transfer case has a lower gearing ratio of 4:1, meaning it is tailor-made to handle steep inclines and intense rock crawling. The Rubicon also comes with locking front and rear differentials to help drivers keep the momentum moving on the trails. 

The Jeep Gladiator is heavily influenced by its older sibling, the Wrangler, not just for its off-road prowess. Its design is instantly recognizable due to the round headlights flanking the symbolic seven-slot grille, the high and wide stance, and open-air freedom with the removable top and doors coupled with a fold-down windshield. Other standard exterior features include three underbody skid plates, 17-inch steel wheels, tough black fender flares, and an easy-open tailgate with three positions. When you step inside the Gladiator, you’ll find a newly standard 7-inch Uconnect 4 touchscreen, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, eight speakers, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and push-button start. Higher Gladiator trim levels add LED exterior lighting, heated power side mirrors, navigation, Alpine premium audio with nine speakers, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
